Tapestry will conclude tour on Empire stage

Tapestry Women’s Choir will bring 24 blended voices and a large musical repertoire to Tekoa’s Empire Theatre next Saturday, May 8 at 7:30 p.m. Tapestry is directed by Dale Forrey, who founded the group in 1999 with a mission to “entertain, enrich and educate” audiences. This year’s performances will feature the theme “Freedom.” Some of the pieces planned for the show are Freedom Come, Marching to Freedom, America the Beautiful, I Will Lift Up My Eyes to the Hills, and many more.

Linda Liou accompanies the choir on piano. She earned a music degree from Dickinson College in Carlisle, Pennsylvania.

Director Dale Forrey, a Colfax native, has been active throughout the northwest in several choirs as well as musical theater productions. He earned a master’s degree in music education from Lewis and Clark College in Portland, Oregon. The Tekoa concert will be his last with the group because he will be moving out of the area.

“It has been a blessing. I am one of the few people who have been able to follow his passion.” He added, “I will probably cry through half of the performance.”

He noted that Tapestry is a registered nonprofit organization and said the best way to ensure that Tapestry continues is to attend and enjoy their concerts and encourage others to do the same.

The Empire show concludes a Tapestry tour that will also include stops May 3 at Colfax United Methodist Church, May 4 at St. James Episcopal Church in Pullman, and May 7 at First Presbyterian Church in Moscow. All begin at 7:30.

Admission to the Tekoa concert will be $5.
