Bank, library to host INBC blood drawing

January 14, 2010

Whitman County Library, along with US Bank in Colfax, will host a community blood drive next Tuesday, Jan.19, from 12 to 5 p.m. A mobile collection unit from the Inland Northwest Blood Center will screen applicants in the lobby of the bank building.

Use of the library’s blood donation site has grown steadily with more than 20 donors giving blood each time. The library is operating from a temporary location behind the bank during the library remodeling project.

“Residents have gotten used to the convenience of giving blood downtown. I’m thrilled we are working with U.S. Bank to continue that practice.” Sheri Miller, program coordinator said.

Photo identification is required, and donors should drink plenty of fluids and eat a meal at least two hours prior to arrival. Donors under 18 years of age are required to have an INBC permission form signed by a parent or guardian. The entire list of eligibility criteria can be found in the library or by contacting INBC.
