Dahmen Barn plans fourth holiday gala

Artisans at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown will hosting their fourth annual Holiday Gala Dec. 5 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. More than 30 artisans fill all three floors of the art center with one-of-a-kind gift items. In addition, there will be book signings by two local authors and live music.

The recently published “Artisans’ Cookbook ~ a palette of Favorite Recipes” will be showcased with free samples of sweets from the recipes and soups for sale. The Gala is free to the public, and the building is fully handicap accessible.

Resident artisans at the Dahmen Barn work in many different media: wildlife, landscape, portrait and abstract paintings; turned wood; fused glass jewelry; ceramics; art photography; quilting and textile arts such as embroidery, screen printing and batik; whimsical jewelry and home decor. The visiting artists at the Gala add wood toys, custom fishing rods, scented candles and soaps, several styles of jewelry, t-shirts and hand knit cardigans, felted scarves, northwest photography, clay sculpture Santas and bird feeders from recycled materials. In addition, more than 100 local artists and craftspeople are featured in The Shop at the Barn.

The two authors featured from 10 to 3 will be Bill Hall from Lewiston autographing Cat Butler, his newest book, and Dan Mclachlan, from Genesee, signing MacAvity’s Pub.

Band at Dahmen

Hog Heaven Big Band will play swing tunes Saturday, Nov. 28, at Dahmen Barn from 7:30 to 9:30 p.m. Because of winter, the band’s next concert at Dahmen will be in March. Admission will be $8 for couples, $5 for singles and children under 12 are free.
