    Pullman firefighters took a hose line up a snowy hillside Wednesday morning to extinguish a fire in an attached garage at the end of an icy and snowy road. The fire was confined to the garage of the single-family home at 1905 NE Landis Place, near Juniper Street.     A graveside service for Gary James Brunner, 62, Palouse, was held Friday, Dec. 21, 2018, at the Greenwood Cemetery in Palouse at 1 p.m. A memorial service will be Saturday, Dec. 29, at 11 a.m. at the Palouse Federated Church with Pastor Corey Laughary officiating Mr. Brunner died late the evening of Sunday, Dec. 16, at his home from an apparent heart attack.     Visitors won’t need a Discover Pass on New Year’s Day or Martin Luther King Jr.’s birthday. Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission will offer two days in January when visitors to state parks will not need a Discover Pass for day-use. The first free day is Jan. 1 and the second day is Jan. 21, Martin Luther King, Jr.’s birthday. A State Parks Discover Pass to visit parks is $30 a year. One-day permits are $10.
