Virginia Angus passed away peacefully on November 27, 2020, at her daughter’s home in Walla Walla, Wash. Born July 16, 1926, in Malden, Wash., to Hazel and William Crutcher, Virginia was raised on the Crutcher’s family farm near Pine City, Wash., and attended Pine City School. Jerry Jerome Stroup, 82, passed away on November 27, 2020, in Colfax. He was born on August 4, 1938, to Charlie Mae Price and David Jerome Stroup in Morganton, North Carolina. His father came home after his service in the Navy, bundled up his family and came west to LaCrosse where he worked as a farmhand for his uncle, Luther Wise. Virginia Lee Kile passed away Nov. 30, 2020, in Spokane, Wash., at the age of 89. She was born on May 4, 1931, in San Diego, Calif., to Albert Lee and Maree Dowling Cook. They returned to the Pine City area when she was three and she was raised on the farm. PULLMAN — A Colfax man was injured in a Sunday morning crash during heavy freezing fog. Schott Aeschliman, 55, was eastbound in a 2000 Chevrolet GMT-400 pickup on state Highway 94 just after 7:30 a.m. when he failed to stop at the intersection of Pullman-Wawawai Road, the Washington State Patrol reported. COLFAX — Givers and receivers are still coming in for the Colfax Fireman’s Toy Box, which provides toys to families with children. “This year, the children need Christmas more than ever,” Toy Box “elf” Tracy Mathia said.
