Lacrosse Wayne Miller, manager of the LaCrosse Food Bank, will distribute Thanksgiving baskets Nov. 20 from 6 to 8 p.m. He said they appreciate the donations which help make the holiday baskets available for neighbors. Dusty Larry and Di Brink chauffeured Mike Stine and Norma Gibson of LaCrosse to Spokane Sunday to participate in a bowling tournament at Lilac Lanes. Both participants earned gold medals. A WSU research position that has been discontinued has led to a new business in Palouse. Located in the former veterinary clinic on Main Street, Mathison Immuno Scientific, Inc., aims to start up Nov. 19. The operation is led by Bruce Mathison, an 18-year research technologist supervisor at WSU. Mathison and wife, Catherine, will now continue his work in their new business. County Coroner Pete Martin last week said he believes the state’s conversion to hard liquor sales in commercial stores increases the problem of high-risk drinking by college students. Martin believes sales of hard liquor in stores reduced the state controls which were in place before the state converted to the new system. Martin Oct. 31 issued a cause of death for Kenneth D.
