Mr. and Mrs. Purdy are keeping house for Samuel Brown while his wife is visiting in the east and no one has been at the house for two weeks except W. T. Waldron, who rooms there. The neighbors discovered the house on fire and gave the alarm.     Steven M. Bonser, 65, died May 31, 2017, at the Tekoa Care Center. Born July 13, 1951, in Spokane to Paul and Geraldine Fishe Bonser, he attended schools in Spokane and graduated from East Valley High School in 1969. He farmed, built boats, operated heavy equipment and worked as a handyman remodeling homes. He enjoyed spending time outdoors, especially in the Mount Spokane and Bear Mountain areas.     At its annual June luncheon, the Whitman Hospital Auxiliary presented a $5,000 check to Hank Hanigan, CEO of the hospital.     Colfax girls All-American Basketball Team Camp this year will be from June 18 through the afternoon of June 22. The Colfax crew feeds the girls and is requesting donations of baked goods such as cookies, breads, bars and any kind of goodies.     M&J Tree Service cuts down a black walnut tree at the Perkins house June 8. The black walnut tree has a value of about $8 per lineal foot, according to Mark Teal of M & J Tree Service.
