The annual Hot Rod Gathering went off in Palouse under a hot sun last Saturday, June 3. The event showcased pre-1965 traditional hot rods, jalopies, kustoms, sleds, bobbers and choppers. About 80 cars lined Palouse's Main Street and both sides of Beach Street. Dr. Ben Rhoades, who recently completed his residency in emergency medicine at Conemaugh Memorial Medical Center in Johnstown, Pa., will join the emergency department at Pullman Regional Hospital as a specialist in emergency medicine. James H. (Jim) Berry, 75, Pullman, died Friday, June 2, 2017, at Sacred Heart Medical Center in Spokane. He will be cremated and, there will be no public service. Kimball Funeral Home of Pullman is caring for the family. Born Oct. 9, 1941, to Robert and Pearl Waller Berry in Lancaster, Calif., he moved with his family to Pullman and graduated from Pullman High School in 1959. Palouse music fest slated for July 29 Palouse Arts Council has scheduled its annual Palouse Music Festival Saturday, July 29, at Hayton Greene Park from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m. Shiloh and the Young Guns and Heather and the Soul Motions are among groups scheduled to date. Rae and Dan Scott and grandson Cole Wheatley. Rae Scott grew up in Pullman and returned to the Palouse for retirement. In between, she and her husband, Dan, lived in eastern, western and central Washington. Dan taught middle school and high school shop. Why did Tom Mohr move to Colfax? That question was answered last March when Mohr responded with a photographic exhibit at The Center next to the Colfax library. It turned out badly. Three men tried to protect two frightened young girls from a racist assault. They were on a light rail commuter train in Portland. The 42nd annual Colfax Junior Rodeo will be Saturday and Sunday at the Palouse Empire Fairgrounds.
