COLFAX – Colfax volunteer firefighters were called out to a structure fire on Morley Road May 20 less than 12 hours after structure fire training less than half a mile from the location. COLFAX – Whitman County has received another positive COVID-19 result, bringing the county total to 20 after three were reported last week. The new case is a male in the 20 to 39 age range. Investigation into the case in on-going. The other three new cases since the county entered Phase II are stable and isolating at home. All of the newer cases have been in the same age range. OAKESDALE – Motions to suppress and dismiss have been made by two of the seven individuals booked May 17 for drug use in an Oakesdale home. Keenen Keller, 26, was charged with possession of controlled substances of methamphetamine and heroin. COLFAX – Charges of violation of the uniform controlled substances act and possession of controlled substance while in a correctional facility were filed against Katrina Taylor, 50, last week when she was allegedly found in possession of heroin after being booked into Whitman County Jail. Taylor, of Clarkston, was booked into the jail April 30 after the traffic stop of a U-haul resulted in the discovery of heroin. PULLMAN – Alexander Taylor Kamara, 30, was booked into Whitman County Jail May 15 for burglary and theft. According to the Pullman Police report, Walmart surveillance video allegedly showed Taylor Kamara take a six pack of Heineken from the shelf and walk out without attempting to pay. Andrew Nolan and his daughter Murphy, Spokane, and Hanna Monsen, Colbert, were guests at the Karen Broeckel home Saturday. Joe Rupe, Colfax Cemetery sexton and groundskeeper has worked for the cemetery for the past five years. Rupe weed eats around more than 10,000 headstones and mows the 21 acres. Rupe does receive assistance from one part-time helper and the occasional volunteer.
