The Board of Commissioners for Whitman County Public Hospital District #4 is seeking applicants for the position of District Superintendent. Whitman County Hospital District #4 owns the Tekoa Medical Clinic building and contracts with Whitman Hospital and Medical Clinics to provide staffing for the clinic. The Superintendent is responsible for administration of the District as directed by the elected Board of Commissioners. The Board meets once per month and the Superintendent is required to attend these meetings to present a report of work performed during the previous month and to receive direction for the upcoming month. Typical duties include: • Carrying out orders of the Board • Research and report on concerns of the public as presented to the Board • Preparing a preliminary annual budget for the Board to review, revise, and accept. o This includes proper advertising of the budget and budget hearing. • Process payment vouchers for Board approval; submit same to Whitman County for payment; and send payments to vendors. • On occasion will be required to contact vendors to receive quotes for building repair or improvements; analyze quotes; submit findings to the Board for approval; oversee the project; and make appropriate payments to vendors. This is a paid part-time position requiring an estimated 2 – 3 hours per week. Pay is dependent on experience and education. Expenses and mileage are reimbursed by the District. Supervises and coordinates the planning and execution of all activities of the main Fleet Shop, situated on Duncan Springs Road. Functions of the main fleet shop include maintenance of heavy equipment and light vehicles, including miscellaneous road maintenance and construction vehicles and numerous light cars and pickups. This is responsible work involving the planning, scheduling, directing, and evaluating of the repair and servicing of County road maintenance equipment and light duty vehicles. Employees of this class will be required to have a significant understanding of road maintenance equipment systems, electrical and mechanical testing equipment, diagnostic tools, computer applications, and a variety of hand, power, and shop tools. Requirements: Three years of progressively responsible equipment and/or vehicle maintenance and repair work. OR Substituting, on a month for month basis, any experience, education, or training which would provide the level of knowledge and ability required. Possession of a valid Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License is preferred. Must have proof of a valid Class “D” (regular) driver’s license with a safe driving record.
