Shirley Eggers said there is a very small crop of peaches this year at Warm Springs Ranch orchard along the Snake River at Penawawa. The cool, wet spring meant the bees did not come out to pollinate the blossoms.
Dick and Suzy McNeilly have had her daughter Christina and two sons, Mason and Aidan, visiting for the past two and a half weeks from Camp LeJeune, N.C. They enjoyed a trip to Joseph and the Imnaha and the many combine and tractor rides.
Walt Smith and son Parker helped Harmon Smith with harvest last week. Parker spent time four-wheeling and playing with his LaCrosse friends. Gina Morgan and son Micah have also been here for harvest. They visited Gina’s grandmother, Irma Stueckle, in Colfax.
One of Gina’s Whitworth roommates, Laura Morasch Hayes and her two children, came to visit one afternoon. Micah met new friends and learned the art of chewing on carefully selected pieces of straw as do seasoned farmers. Gina’s husband Jason came Aug. 9 for his turn driving truck before they returned to Yakima.
Last Friday, Di Brink and Joan Myrick spent the night with cousin Camille Patterson in her Spokane Valley home. Saturday evening, Di and Larry Brink were supper guests of Don and Carol Keeney of LaCrosse. The Keeney’s son Christopher was home from College Place for the weekend.
Last week Wednesday, Linda Hennigar and Tami and Wesley Banks were in Pullman to visit mother/grandmother/great grandmother Altona Wigen. They also had lunch and visited with David and Tam Sherman.
A “Good Luck in Your New Home” potluck for Jim and Ann Emerson followed morning worship services Sunday at the Selbu Lutheran Church. They will be moving to Hill Ray in Colfax. Their son Bill is moving into the farm home. The Emerson’s daughter Heidi Jones and her children Ellie and Alex, Lacey, as well as siblings David and Phyllis Stueckle and John and Jane Aune attended. Special music was performed for the morning services. Granddaughter Ellie and Gretchen Pederson each sang a song and grandson Alex played piano.
David and Phyllis Stueckle attended a birthday party for friends in Spokane Valley Saturday.
Cindy Pitts was at their cabin on Priest Lake for a women and kids weekend. She was joined by daughter Jen and her children Kellen, Becket and Willa of Boise and daughter Carrie of Yakima. On her way home, Pitts stopped to visit her other daughter’s family, Amanda and Erik Carlson and Tate and Rafe.
