Special Olympics gold winners

Mike Stine and Norma Gibson competed in the Special Olympic bowling tournament in Spokane Sunday, Nov. 11, at Lilac Lanes.

They are members of the Whitman County Cougars team, based in Pullman.

Mike and Norma both earned gold medals in the tournament.

Mike bowled a 113 for both of his games.

Norma bowled a 112 and an 82.

Di and Larry Brink, Dusty, were there to root for her brother, Mike, and Norma.

Also there for support was Marie Ping of LaCrosse, who was also watching her grandson, Garrett, compete, and Norma’s friend Raylynn Lund of Rosalia.

Volunteer drivers to bowling practice in Pullman at Zeppo’s this year were Tom Cauley, Di Brink, Raylynn Lund and Lois Startin.

Norma and Mike are wearing new teams shirts for this year.

The team is coached by WSU student volunteers.
