Rosalia school, churches triples 2011 food drive tally

Rosalia’s Community Food Drive for the first week in December finished with 1,875 items donated. High school, middle school and elementary school students competed to bring in the most food donations in a “Munch Madness” tournament format. The fourth grade class won the tournament with a pizza party and an ice cream tournament.

The food drive tripled the total items from last year’s food drive. Donations from the school and Rosalia churches were collected in the Rosalia Catholic Church that Sunday. A group of volunteers met at the Catholic church and sorted out the items into groups for 45 local families, according to a report from Gage Merritt, a member of the RHS leadership class which organized the drive.
