Paul gives us five reasons why we can be content in Christ:
—The Purpose of God (3) Our names are recorded in heaven
—The Presence of God (8) God’s promise to be with us
—The People of God (10, 14) A source of help
—The Power of God (113) Strength to do what needs to be done
—The Provision of God (19) He supplies all our needs according to His riches
Dwight L. Moody spoke of verse 19 as being God’s blank check:
The Firm – “My God” The firm can never go bankrupt.
The Promise – “shall supply” The promise is absolutely certain
The Amount – “all your needs” The amount is always sufficient
The Capital – “according to His riches” The capital is limitless.
The Bank – “in glory” The bank can never be robbed.
The Signature – “by Jesus Christ” The signature is on every check
“And my God will meet all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ
