Palouse cowboys

set for Dahmen

Fall performance for the Palouse Country Cowboy Poets and Musicians will be Oct. 11 at the Dahmen Barn in Uniontown at 2 p.m. Admission is $10 per person. Orvil Sears and Dave Nordquist will perform poetry, and Dave Fulfs, Bodie Dominguez and Lee Hadwiger will play Western music.

In 1991 Baxter Black, probably today’s best known cowboy poet, told a group of Palouse country enthusiasts gathered in Asotin that cowboy poetry was the fastest growing western cultural activity and that they should get involved. The group members ruminated on that statement, some attended gatherings and some began writing cowboy poetry. In 1995 the Palouse Country Cowboy Poetry Association was formed with seven members. Today there are about 40 members.

Watercolor class

Dahmen Barn resident artist Katherine Clancy will be offering a beginning watercolor workshop Saturday, Oct. 3, from 1 to 4 pm. This course will give participants the opportunity to learn about mixing color, trying wet into wet and dry brush techniques and completing a simple picture. The class fee of $37 includes all materials. Registrations are due by Oct. 2.
