Disaster crop claims due June 1

Farmers have until June 1 to submit applications for the 2010 crop year Supplemental Revenue Assistance Payments Program, or SURE.
Producers who lost at least 10 percent production on a crop grown in a disaster designated county or contiguous county are eligible for payments. Whitman County was declared a contiguous county.
To be eligible, farmers must have obtained insurance through the Federal Crop Insurance Corporation and obtained Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program coverage from the FSA.
To apply, schedule an appointement with the county Farm Service Agency office in Colfax.
