Cribbage, symphony among LaCrosse study adventures

Lacrosse

Fifth graders Matea Enzweiler, Trey Fleming, Lauren Stubbs, Gunnar Aune and Blake Jones learned how to play Cribbage during Friday math periods in the fall quarter. Bonnie Bigsby, Charles Miller and April Guske were instructors.

Fifth and sixth graders attended the fifth grade day hosted by the Spokane symphony at the Fox Theatre in Spokane. Each section of the orchestra told how their instruments worked and sounded. Several selections were played. The children accompanied the orchestra in singing the national anthem. After the symphony the students went to the Northwest Museum of Arts & Culture and viewed exhibits about Native American artifacts and the Cold War. They worked their way through a hands-ome exhibit with a map about David Douglas, a naturalist from the 1800’s who collected specimens from the Pacific Northwest.
