Thrifty Grandmothers
Sixteen members and one guest attended the Thrifty Grandmothers meeting at the library Monday. Marie Fowler from the Council on Aging & Human Services was the guest speaker.
Members voted to donate $1,000 to the LaCrosse Pride building fund and $500 to the Council on Aging for Meals on Wheels. The club recently donated $300 to Relay for Life.
Next meeting will be March 12.
Colfax Boy Scouts
Nine scouts in Colfax Troop 595, one future scout and three adults returned Sunday after camping for two nights at the Moose Creek Reservoir near Bovill, Idaho. The scouts participated in the annual scout district Klondike Derby. One of the features of the two-night campout was fishing through the ice at the reservoir. An ice auger was used to drill holes in the ice which measured from a foot to two feet thick. Several fish were landed. Among the skills tested in the derby were air rifle shooting, fire building, tree identification and map and compass reading.
Scouts attending were A.J. Garcia, Daniel Thomas, Michael Clinton, Cody Miller, Nick McAdams, Brady Wuestney, Jared Thompson, Connor Johnson and Tyson Rogers.
Scoutmaster Mark Clinton, Shawn McAdams,and B.J. Rogers accompanied the scouts along with Morgan Rogers.
