Widmans' buttercup dynasty continues

Claiming the title of “Princess Buttercup,” seven-year-old Angelina Widman, back, brought in to the Gazette office, along with her younger siblings Reed and Sofia, the first buttercups of the season last Thursday, Feb. 9, claiming the 2012 Gazette buttercup Sweepstake prize.

Angelina has won the Buttercup grand prize, a U.S. dollar bill, for the past five years.

Reed has joined in the victory for the past four years, while this was Sofia’s first appearance in the buttercup victor’s circle.

The trio are the children of Allen and Emmy Widman.

They found the buttercups on that same south slope near the family’s mailbox in Awtskin Canyon west of Rosalia that has produced the last five champion spring blooms.
