Palouse school board discusses levy numbers

Next year’s special levy was discussed at the Palouse school board meeting Nov. 15.

“Based on the need, I don’t believe we are understaffed,” said Palouse Superintendent Jake Dingman, indicating the levy will mainly be for maintenance, repairs and material costs.

Numbers talked about for 2014 collection were in the range of $400,000 to $406,000.

“I’m not terribly excited about a bare bones, duct tape and bailing wire approach,” said boardmember Chris Cook.

Dingman noted that with adoption of national Common Core standards in 2014-15, the transition will cost money.
