County Parks seeks to fill seat

Whitman County Parks Board seeks to fill the seat left vacant by the death of Jim Sharp of Rosalia. Mr. Sharp, who was appointed to the board in January 2009, died Dec. 20.

The board is particularly interested in filling the seat with an applicant from the north and western parts of the county, areas which are under-represented on the board. However, any interested county resident is invited to apply.

During the summer months, the board meets at the parks.

Any interested people may contact Parks Director Tim Myers at the parks office in Colfax for more information. The posts are unpaid. Interested residents are asked to attend a meeting of the board and then decide whether or not they want to file for a seat.

Final appointment to a seat on the park board is done by the county commissioners.
